Summer vacation in the Dolomites
When the days are getting longer, the sun shines until late, even in the most hidden Dolomite valleys, and the summer weather is balmy, a great period for all summer holiday activities begins. In San Vigilio at Plan de Corones, you will find truly excellent conditions: the village at Plan de Corones and the nature park Fanes-Sennes-Braies are not only popular winter sports destinations for connoisseurs and experts – here, you may also spend a carefree, perfectly balanced summer holiday in the Dolomites.
A great activity programme
San Vigilio is a premier hiking area. You may discover the nearby Val Badia or pay a visit to the Pusteria Valley. There, great bike tours await you. The Pusteria Bike Path takes you to Lienz in East Tyrol, or in the other direction far up or down into the Isarco Valley. Family jaunts around San Vigilio are fun also on a mountain bike. A day trip through the nature park Fanes-Sennes-Braies, for example to Lake Braies, will bless you with lasting memories. The mountains close to San Vigilio are accessible by cable car, so you may take along your children. However, if you bring your climbing gear, you should definitely use it during the summer holidays in the Dolomites. The mountains surround San Vigilio like the loop of a crown and invite you to conquer their peaks.
Hiking from cabin to cabin
The fresh mountain air will make you hungry. During your tours and excursions, you will encounter many alpine huts and mountain inns, where you can enjoy freshly prepared South Tyrolean specialties. Of course, you may also embark on a cabin tour, for example to the Wellschellener Alm, the Berggasthof Pederü, the Ücia Picio Pre or the popular chalet “Lé dla Creda” with lakeside terrace – spectacular views, scenic itineraries and pass routes are included.
