Snowshoeing in the Dolomites – Welcome to paradise!

Snowshoeing in the Dolomites – Welcome to paradise!

Discover the winter in the Dolomites from its most beautiful side. Enjoy a winter hike through silent, snow-covered pine forests, past old farms and sparkling white meadows, accompanied by magnificent mountain panoramas. Leave all your worries of everyday life behind. Find your natural balance, and with the peace of mind, the wonderful feeling of being at the right time in the right place settles in. Even if it is just an easy walk on the well-prepared hiking trails around San Vigilio, every step is pure relaxation. If you wish to go a little further, beyond the groomed trails, you should try snowshoeing in the Dolomites.

Easy trails and guided peak hikes

Easy trails and guided peak hikes

In the surroundings of the village of San Vigilio, there are many easy snowshoe trails for beginners, but also great peak tours and hikes on the alpine plateaus of Fanes and Sennes for more experienced winter sports enthusiasts, who are fit and active. However, you should book a local mountain guide, who will take care of your safety and knows every snowdrift and danger point. Because during snowshoeing in the Dolomites you can enjoy the enormous advantage of not having to follow fixed routes and can walk through deep snow without much effort. You will be rewarded with wonderful experiences that often you can enjoy all alone, amidst the mountains.

Snowshoeing in the Dolomites to Grossfanes

Snowshoeing in the Dolomites to Grossfanes

A particularly beautiful and very long tour takes you from the parking lot in Pederü to Grossfanes in the nature park Fanes-Sennes-Braies. At Kleinfanes, you should switch to snowshoes. Here, you will find two lodges offering genuine hospitality. After several bends, you will climb up to the weather cross at the Limo Pass, pass the Limo Lake hidden under ice and snow, and soon will reach the secluded, enchanting basin of Großfanes, the end point of the tour. The return of this 18.5-km route (about 6.30 h, 700 altitude meters) takes you along the same way down the valley.
